Well we are all humans and we all burn out, especially in an academic or work setting.
The problem with burnout is that it happens over a long period of time and it’s effects increase gradually which means it is usually late by the time you have realized it.
The problem is more cultural than organizational, we glorify overdoing, we glorify struggle and that builds up pressure on people to perform beyond expected.
What we forget to anticipate that giving 110% once in a while is completely fine but when it changes from once to weeks and week to months, people start breaking down.
Lack of motivation, Low productivity, Low aspirations take over and you stop enjoying what you do and feel like just crashing, that’s exactly what burnout feels like.
The sooner you identify it, sooner you can act and save yourself from a complete burnout which can last for months on stretch and might make you dysfunctional.
Hustling is amazing, hustling gets work done, but when you hustle for too long, you break and lose a lot of time recovering. So, hustle, but responsibly.
Also, if you are already burned out, take a complete break for 20 days, studies say that it takes 8 days to take work/other things off your mind, 14 to recover and ofcourse the remaining.
Changing the physical space and cutting off from people who will remind you of work/’things bugging you’ helps.
Keeping it short, so you don’t burnout while reading it. lol. bye.
